  15. If you are able to open a DOS window, but do not know how to make it
  16. the PRIMARY window (not just maximised) then press ALT-ENTER.
  17. To re-window the DOS box, press ALT-ENTER again once you have left the game.

  19. If you are not familiar with DOS...
  20. 1.  Open your DOS window.
  21. 2.  (START, RUN, COMMAND.COM   -   or doubleclick your DOS icon)
  22. 3.  ENSURE THE DOS BOX IS PRIMARY, as detailed above. (Alt-Enter)
  23. 4.  Change to the appropriate directory where you installed the game.
  24.     eg:     cd c:\pbmgr   [ENTER]
  25. 5.  Execute the game.
  26.     eg:     pbmgr.exe     [ENTER]
  27. 6.  Once the game is finished, exit DOS.
  28.     eg:     exit          [ENTER]

  32. The game is in BETA test at the moment. There are a few things that you will
  33. encounter difficulty with, the one section that is proving troublesome is the
  34. SHAREMARKET screen. While this can help you raise team funds, it is not a
  35. required part of the game. If you have problems with it, just leave this part
  36. of the game alone.

  38. If you notice any other wierdness, please email maddox@paintball.co.nz and
  39. let me know precisely what happened, and what you were doing when it
  40. happened. This will help me fix up bugs for future versions of the game.

  44. I don't want to hear whining about how hard the game is. I know it can be
  45. hard. You really need to concentrate on training BIG TIME in order to win
  46. games as the teams progress through the years. THEY are doing all their
  47. training behind the scenes, and their fundraising, so you should be too.
  48. Don't just skip past the months, or you'll start losing games very early on.

  52. I know, I know, the game is written in QBASIC. Its an obsolete language, but
  53. I've had bits of code lying around for years, and figured I'd chuck them
  54. together into a game. My eventual plan is to have this whole game running
  55. live over a web site so that you can play against other teams managed by
  56. real people.  This involves me getting off my arse to come to grips with
  57. JAVA and the like, so it might take a while.

  61. The game is freeware. That means you can send it to people, copy it all over
  62. the place, upload it wherever you want, or even enscribe it on gold CD's and
  63. fire it off out of the solar system on a Voyager mission if you want. As long
  64. as you don't play around with the code or the accompanying text or graphics,
  65. I don't mind.  I still reserve the right to be recognised as the owner and
  66. author of the software though.

  70. For those of you who downloaded the teensy little zip file from somewhere
  71. like download.com and then had to search for the link for this game, I
  72. apologise. I ran out of storage space, and needed to move the game off-server
  73. to another location... therefore the link in download.com (or shareware.com)
  74. was not accurate. Rather than have you meet a "FILE NOT FOUND" message, I
  75. thought you'd find it more useful to find a zip file of the same name with
  76. an instruction as to how to find the full version.
